“Not Available in Your Region” on FANZA — What It Means

javnavi » “Not Available in Your Region” on FANZA — What It Means

Why Japanese adult video stores turn you away

If you open FANZA from outside Japan you will not get far. What you see depends on where you land, and it is worth knowing which wall you have hit.

The age gate. The entry page asks whether you are 18 or over. This appears for everyone, in Japan or not.

The login wall. Past the age gate, an overseas connection is pushed to a login page rather than the store front that visitors inside Japan see.

The region page. The store also has a dedicated page for this, still in place at special.fanza.jp/not-available-in-your-region/. Its wording is blunt: sorry, this content is not available in your region.

None of these is an error, a ban, or a problem with your account. They are the same decision expressed in three places: the store serves Japan.

Why the block exists

Japanese adult video is licensed for the Japanese market. Distribution rights, the payment infrastructure, and Japan’s own legal requirements for adult content are all built around domestic sale. Rather than manage each country’s rules, the stores serve Japan only.

DMM publishes a list of its services that are available from outside Japan. It is short — an online salon service, an English conversation service and a ticketing service — and the video stores are not on it.

What it is not

  • Not a ban. Your account, if you have one, is unaffected.
  • Not a signal to look elsewhere. The works exist legitimately; the question is how to reach the store that sells them.

Your options

Wait for an official international store There is no announced plan for one
Buy from a reseller Very few exist for Japanese adult video, and most are not authorised
Connect through Japan The route most overseas buyers actually use
Pirate sites Free, and the studios and performers receive nothing. We do not cover them

The third option is what the rest of this site is about — with one warning worth reading before you start: reaching the store and paying at the store are two separate problems. See the payment section of the buying guide.

→ Next: How to buy legally from overseas

A note on support: DMM’s own help pages treat VPN and proxy connections as something to disable when troubleshooting, and the video stores are absent from its list of services available outside Japan. Connecting from abroad is not something the store supports.
